MALACCA BUTTERFLY & REPTILE SANCTUARY




If you are a butterfly lover, or love to get in touch with nature, MALACCA BUTTERFLY & REPTILE SANCTUARY is a must visit destination !

Open to public on 1 February 1991, the sanctuary is now home for more than 20 species of butterflies. Launched by the Chief Minister of Malacca, the sanctuary is formerly known as 'The Butterfly Park Malacca' which the only home for different species of butterflies. Continuous improvement by the management has led the Malacca Butterfly & Reptile Sanctuary to transform itself into one of the most successful sanctuary in Malaysia today.

BUTTERFLY AVIARY

Some of the butterflies species at the sanctuary are Black and White Helen (Papilio Nephelus), Malayan Birdwing (Troides), and Raja Brooke Birdwing, named after Sir James Brooke (the King of Sarawak). The rare black and electric-green Raja Brooke's Birdwing, can only be found in Malaysia and Indonesia.

With more than thousands of butterflies and moths flying around, the Butterfly Aviary makes one feelslike living in a mystical world. A truly money cannot buy experience for all nature lover.


If you are lucky, you might get a butterfly to land on you  =).


KOI GARDEN

Simply laze by the pond, and listen to the falling water in the Koi River Valley. Admire the beautiful fishes and refresh yourself in this tropical environment, and also, don't be surprise to see two leopards in the Koi Garden ! Yes, leopards !




BIRD AVIARY

The sanctuary also home to a number of birds, from the happy chirping of the lovebirds, to the more exotic white peacocks, hornbills, owls, peafowls, and parrots.




REPTILE AVIARY

The reptile aviary exhibits a large collection of reptiles, including crocodiles, alligators, tortoises, lizards, iguana, monitor lizards, and more than 20 different species of snakes.



A mangrove snake garden will let you have a close up encounter with the snakes in the Reptile Aviary. How close? This CLOSE. You might want to be careful when you're in the garden as the management will not responsible for mishap happens to you.


INSECT MUSEUM

The Insect Museum has a collection of more than 400 of museum specimens.



 On your way out, be sure to check out the 'For Sale' corner if you are a collector or want to bring back an insect specimen for memory.

The sanctuary operates everyday, starts from 8.30 a.m until 5.30 p.m

Admission : 
  • Adult :  RM8.00 per person (RM12.00 for non-MYKAD holders)
  • Child (3-12 years old) : RM5.00 per person (7.00 for non-MYKAD holder)
  • Video & camera : RM3.00

Coaches and school buses are entitled to special privileges and discounts !

Educational tours, food and beverages, treasure hunt, quiz, and other activities can all be arranged !
